There is no question that disposables are more convenient but the cost to the earth and your wallet is enormous. Fortuneately in only a few short years many companies have updated the traditional cloth diaper to be more functional (no more pins!), fashionable (no rubber outer cover) and eco-friendly (flushable liners).
Here is a list of some of the coolest, convenient, and earth-friendly diapers on the market today.
www.happyheinys.com - One size diapers to fit from birth to potty trained. Liners are hemp or microfibre terry and covers come in tons of colors and styles including snaps or velcor-like closures. Wash and wear.
www.bummis.com - Just as easy as disposable -- just wash and wear! I really do wish these were around sooner. Choose sizes or one-size fits all, organic available too! Also home to bumGenius diapers.
www.gdiaper.com - The "flushable" diaper. The liners are flushable and totally biodegradable so less detergent and laundry but may have to invest a little more. Very fun patterns and colors for baby.
Talk to other moms to find out which brand they love most. There are pros and cons to all diaper choices and you have to do what works best for you. If you can even try just one brand of cloth and use them at night when baby might be in a wet diaper the longest (exposed to less chemicals with cloth) or when just hanging out at home, your wallet and the earth will be grateful.
